Beverly MA is located in the north east of Massachusetts bordering Danvers on the west, Wenham on the north and east, Wenham and Manchester on the east, and Beverly Harbor and Danver River on the south. It is located seven miles north of Lynn, 18 miles north of Boston and 238 miles from New York City. It was founded in 1626 and is one of the oldest cities in the state. The United States Navy commissioned their first ship here that sailed from Beverly Harbor. The armed schooner Hannah first sailed from Beverly on September 2, 1775. Hence it can be said to be the Birthplace of America s Navy. The Mayor of Beverly is William Scanlonand who was elected for his sixth term in 2005.

The Beverly city, by the census of 2000, had a population of 39862 and an estimated population of 39876 in July 2005. Males constituted 47.3% and females 52.7 %.
