İngilizce öğrenmek için yapılmaması gerekenler

Savas Ates

Errors that Shouldn't be Made While Learning English

English is one of the first languages in the world that people want to learn as a second language. While some truths are applied abou learning English, there are also wrong procedures in the process of English learning. Related to this process how a baby learns its first language needs to be addressed firstly.

When babies acquire their first languages, they don't learn its grammar firstly. The first thing that they learn is to speak what they hear. Babies start to speak as they hear the words like father, mother. Then the words they hear increase. With increasing the word level, they start to learn the meaning of the words.

Forming sentence comes with the stage of word acquisition. Children combine words which they learn to make sentence and they start to form sentences and this brings making conversation. As it is seen, while babies are in process of language learning, firstly they listen to what they hear, then they start to converse by repeating the words they hear. In the next step, they begin to give meaning to talks.

One common mistake made in many countries is to begin to be taught grammar first. In the first phase, if grammar is taught, the process of learning is a challenging process and a person who tries to learn a language has to grapple constantly with a number of grammar rules. Whereas babies learn to speak without rules then they learn grammar and then they learn reading and writing. Learning a language becomes a natural step if the first step is speaking. It is known that if learning of language begins with teaching grammar, it is not appropriate to the natural process and it makes for a difficult learning process and it has also been reported in various academic journals. The famous linguist Noam Chomsky stated that firstly language needs to be acquireed, and if the process is girded with rules of grammar, it has lots of errors.

In the light of this knowledge, there are number of bad examples as well as there are good examples for the acquisition. The 444ingilizce.com website teaches English starting with speaking and listening to Turkish students without using grammar rules. Many universities implementing this method teach English to students. We hope that in universities English language teaching methods will be improved and start using the most effective method.
