The Hub of the Universe, The City on a Hill, The Hub and The Cradle of Liberty, these are the nicknames given to the worlds most popular and bustling city Boston. City of Boston is the largest city and also the capital of Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is also known as an unofficial capital of the region known as New England. Being the oldest, bustling, pulsating and wealthiest city, it covers major area of United States. This is the only city where its economy is solely based on education, health care, finance, and technology.

Boston generally falls in the United States seventh largest area known as Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area or Boston CMSA. Boston is cleverly guarded by various other cities such as New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut and also falls in the middle of Cambridge, Brookline, Quincy, and Newton. Being the youngest city it always got the treatment of like a sibling. This city is basically situated on a hill thats why its weather and attractions are of prime attraction. City of Boston is always hounded by the tourists and they keep this city packed throughout the year. People always love to spend their vacation at this place as herein they find cool weather with moderate waves, friendly atmosphere, and rich culture. Boston is also known to be the historic city as its past dates back to 17th century. According to the historians Boston came into being on 17th September 1630. This city was founded by Puritan colonists from England on a voyage to a peninsula called Shawmut. Prior to them original Native American was its inhabitants.

At that this time peninsula was connected by the mainland by a narrow isthmus and was also well connected by the waters of Massachusetts Bay. After that this place was acquired by European settlers who changed its name to Trimountaine. But very difficult to pronounce they renamed it and finally it was known as Boston. Being located on the banks of Charles River, this city was very prosperous and flourished to its all aspects. Ones this city started getting populated, it was converted into democracy and finally people got the chance to say anything. In a public addressing Massachusetts Bay Colony's original governor, John Winthrop, quoted a famous line. That line was a City upon a Hill which later became Bostons nickname. The line captured many eye balls and this city was known to have a special covenant with God.

Seeing the prosperous city, British decided to capture this city in 1770. Their main aim was to capture it and make it their colony. But their efforts went in vain as Bostonians got one to initiate the American Revolution. After that there was array of incidents such as the Boston Tea Party, The Boston Massacre and many more to follow. Apart from that there were various battles too such as Battle of Bunker Hill, Battle of Lexington and Concord and the Siege of Boston. After the commencement of revolution, Boston became worlds healthiest and wealthiest city having major international trading ports. These ports became famous for export of rum, fish, salt, and tobacco. Despite being famous this city was never tagged as the city. But in 1882 finally Boston was tagged as a city and this was the time when there was complete makeover.

This city's industrial manufacturing overtook international trade in economic importance. After that there was no looking back as this city went onto the roads of flourish. With the dawn of 1900 this city became the nation's largest manufacturing centers and was known for its garment production, leather goods, and machinery industries. Soon they also became renowned in rarefied literary culture and lavish artistic patronage. Being the most cultured city herein you'll never find dirt, pollution and dust. This city is also known for its intellectual reputation. Boston is very famous for its ornate theatres such as the Cutler Majestic Theatre and The Wang Center for the Performing Arts. This city is home for some famous performing arts groups such as the Boston Ballet, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Boston Lyric Opera Company, and the Handel and Haydn Society. Apart from that there are various events which take place such as First Night, which occurs during New Year's Eve. There are also various events that take place during the Fourth of July.

Some of the famous and popular events or festivals are Harborfest festivities and a Boston Pops. Both these events are accompanied by fireworks on the banks of the Charles River. Furthermore, Boston also has many cultural universities which reflect the rich culture with powerful tradition. With the passing time Italian, Chinese, and Hispanic groups all contributed to Boston's culture but this city has its own collection of neologisms known as Boston slang. Talking about weather Boston generally experiences a moderate temperature which is prevalent in New England too. The weather is exactly like New England and it changes its mood day after day. The usual temperature this city experiences is 54 Fahrenheit degrees and sometime even more. But whenever temperature crosses this mark it is followed by rain making the weather cooler and pleasant. Summers are very hot and humid with scanty rainfalls. But, the winters are cold, windy and snowy. Every year in October this City of Boston gets the chance to freeze in snow and next year in February they get the chance to bath in sweat as weather becomes real hot and warm.

This City of Boston is resident of world's most famous and research hospitals that's why it enjoys an international reputation in the medical field. It's the Longwood Medical Area which is the region concentrated on medical and research facilities, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Harvard Medical School. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital merged in to become one. Boston's most popular hospital Massachusetts General Hospital is located near the Beacon Hill neighborhood, bordering with the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Apart from that this medical city also has VA medical centers in the Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury neighborhoods.
