Dollar Rent A Car is a car rental company that was established in Los Angeles, California. It was founded by Henry Caruso in 1965, but was later on acquired by Chrysler in the year 1990.
It was initially referred to as \'Dollar Rent A Car' because it had a consistent daily rate of one dollar for sedans. But by 1968, rates were increased to keep competitive prices, all the while maintaining monopolistic competition with other rental car companies.
Today, they have more than 647 locations that are situated in around 53 countries. With more than 358 of the locations being in the United States and Canada, they still have a strong presence in Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.
