  1. At first, it sounded a lot like a Uralic language, but when I hear Israel mentioned, it started to sound more like Persian or something from that area. In short, I have no idea 😀

  2. Khanty, Mansi or perhaps Nenets surely in that North Eastern Siberian area. I think I hear Children of Israel and Joseph.

  3. some sort of saami language? def. sounds uralic. but it’s definitely not northern saami…

  4. I’m going to guess the mystery language is of the Inuit people, or Eskimo. Siri says that is Inupiaq.
It reminds me of the language spoken in the movie Fast Runner.

  5. I suppose Rauli would have known, if it were Finnish, Saami, Vesp, Erzyan, Khanty or Mansi.
One of my ears is hearing Turkic (without front rounded vowels) and the other one Slavic influences.
But, I can’t make up my mind on word final “-ksa”.
Finally, I’m hovering over some sort of Mongolian.

  6. The answer is Evenki (Эвэнки/Ēwēnki), a Manchu-Tungus language spoken in the Evenki Autonomous District (Эведы Автомоды Округ), or Evenkia, in Russia, and also in parts of China and Mongolia.

The recording comes from the GRN.

  7. Not far from my guess. My first thought was Udmurt due to what sounded like voiceless alveopalatal fricatives and unrounded non-front vowels, but the form Izraildu, which is clearly a case form, got me thinking – Udmurt doesn’t seem to have such a case suffix while Tungusic languages do. I also did some googling for the words I heard in Cyrillic.
