Language quiz 26 June 2016 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
I’m hearing a lot of back of the throat consonants ad a distinction between voicing, nonoicing, and aspiration.
The answer is Dghwede, a Chadic language spoken in Borno State in Nigeria. The recording comes from the GRN.
I was very excited to guess the language, but then read Simon’s comment. Sorry, it would be interesting to have the quiz run for at least a week?
As a wild guess I’m going to say Balochi, as it sounds half-way between Iranian and Hindi. :–}
