Here’s a recording in a mystery language.
Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
I made this recording on the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead today – I’m now back in Bangor. I heard a couple behind me speaking in a language I didn’t recognise, and discretely recorded it. The quality of the recording is not great as I did it on my phone, and there was a lot of background noise. Later I found out what language it was.
The timbre of the voice makes me think it is a Bantu language as well as some of the sounds (I thought I heard a double “n” at the beginning of a word which I have heard in Swahili).
Maybe a language from Uganda, like Urufumbira?
The answer is Igbo (Asụsụ Igbo), a Volta-Niger language spoken in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
