Aka-Jeru is a Northern Great Andamanese language that was spoken in the northwest of Great Andaman Island, part of the Indian Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The last fluent speaker of Aka-Jeru, Nao, died in 2009. Since then a few people have learnt a language based mainly on Aka-Jeru, with some elements taken from the Khora, Sara and Bo languages. Some scholars consider this a new language and call it Great Andamanese. Most Andaman islanders now speak Andaman Creole Hindi.
