Curripaco (Kurripako / Wakue)

Curripaco is an Arawakan language spoken along the Içana River in parts of Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela by about 12,000 people. In 2008 there were about 7,000 speakers of Curriapaco in the Guainía and Vaupés departments of southeast Colombia. In 2012 there were about 1,330 Curripaco speakers in Amazonas state of Brazil, and 3,740 in Amazonas state of Venezuela.

Other names for Curripaco include Baniva del Isana, Curipaco, Curripaco-Baniva, Karrupaku, Koripako, Kuripaco, Kurripaco, Kurripako, Kúrrim and Waquenia. The native names of the language are Kurripako and Wakue ("Our language"). In Wikipedia Curripaco is classified as a dialect of Karu / Baniwa.
