Naro is a Khoe language spoken mainly in the Ghanzi District of western Botswana, and also in eastern Namibia. In 2011 there were about 8,000 native speakers of Naro in Botswana, 1,000 in Namibia, and another 1,000 second language speakers in Bostwana.
The Naro Language Project was started in the 1980s by the Reformed Church in D'kar in central Bostwana with the aim of promoting literacy among Naro speakers. They are also working on a Naro translation of the Bible.
Tones are marked as follows: á = high tone, à = low tone, and the middle tone is unmarked.
