Palula (پالولہ)

Palula is a member of the Dardic subgroup of the Indo-Aryan language family. It is spoken by about 10,000 people in the Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Specifically it is spoken in the Ashret, Biori and Shishi valleys.

In some areas Palula speakers are shifting to Khowar, but in Biori and Ashret valleys it is the main language of the Palula population. It is used in some schools, and some literature and textbooks are being produced in the language.

A society for the promotion of Palula, or Anjuman-e-taraqqi-e-Palula was set up in 2004 to encourage use of the language, and documentation of Palula history and culture.

The language name is also written Phalura, Palola or Phalulo, and the also known as Ashreti (Aćharêtâʹ) or Dangarikwar. It's native name is پالولہ.
