Vadi is a member of the Kainji branch of the Benue-Congo language family. It is spoken in Kebbi and Niger states in the northwest of Nigeria. In 2011 there were about 130,000 speakers of Vadi, which is also known as Tsuvadi, Abadi, Avadi, Evadi, Ibeto or Kamberi. Dialects include Agadi, Azozolo and Kakihum.
Vadi is used everywhere by people of all ages, except in mosques. It is also used as a second language by Cipu speakers. Although few people can read and write Vadi, parts of the Bible have been translated into the language.
