Zenaga is a Berber language spoken in southwestern Mauritania, and in northern Senegal. It is spoken in the Trarza region of Mauritania between the town of Mederdra and the Atlantic coast. In 2014 there were about 2,000 Zenaga speakers. Zenaga is also known as Zenaga Berber or Mauritania(n) Berber.
Zenaga can be written with the Latin alphabet or the Tifinagh script. Few Zenaga speakers are able to read and write their language, however. The language is recognised as a minority language in Mauritania.
