I Am A River

This is a song by Nikomo (Clarke), a musician, singer, composer and choir leader based in Somerset. We often use this as a warm up song in the Bangor Community Choir, and other choirs I sing with.

I am a river
flowing to the ocean
I am a river
Passing through this land

Sopranos & tenors
Flow like a river
Flow like a river
Flow like a river
Passing through this land

Basses
Flow, like a river flows
Flow, like a river flows
Flow, like a river
Passing through this land

Altos
Flow like a river
Flow like a river
like a river
Passing through this land

In the second section the basses and altos sing slightly different words, and each part come in at a different time: the sopranos first, then the tenors, basses and altos.

Here's a recording of this song made at Sing for Water North in Manchester in June 2013, and featuring Bangor Community Choir, and choirs from all over northern England and Wales.

Hear a the four parts of this song being sung separately by David Burbidge, leader of Lakeland Voice, a choir based in Kendal in Cumbria.
