The Amai script was created by Alex Krylov to write his constructed language called Bearnese, which is spoken in an imaginary parallel version of Earth, called Terra. This script is also known as the Bearnese alphabet.
The Amai script is used for the Bearn(ese) language and a number of other languages of the Middle Lands of Terra, primarily for the languages of the Northern Ynnevian group.
The script was invented in 653 by the bearnese monk Karad Ta Ffeorn [ˋcɑːrǝd ta fːɛʌ̯rn] for recording the text of the Book of Light — I Mbodd gu Neath, the main socio-philosophical and religious text of the Bearns, which until the invention of writing had been transmitted exclusively orally.
For the purpose of facilitating communication with representatives of Earth peoples, the Bearns also adapted the Latin alphabet for their language; however, Amai remains the primary writing system.
