Pimato Sandad Pimato Sandad

The Pimato Sandad writing system is an abugida created by Ander Jiloh in 2016 for Kadazandusun, a North Bornean language spoken in Malaysia. It was invented to give the Kadazandusun language access to the medium of writing as a sovereign space for cultural expression, as the Latin script does not share cultural heritage with the Kadazandusun language. A font, known as Taarau, is developed by Ander Jiloh since 2019.

Pimato simply means 'letters', and sandad means 'indigenous'. Put together, Pimato Sandad means 'indigenous letters'. The script is also referred to as Pimato, Pimato Tokou ('our letters'), or Pimato Momogun ('letters of the Momogun peoples').
