Kri (meengq Kri)

Kri is a member of the Vietic branch of the Austroasiatic language family. It is spoken by about 250 people in Khammouane Province (ຄໍາມ່ວນ) in central Laos, particularly in the Upper Ñrong (Nam Noy) valley, and also in the Nakai-Nam Theun Biodiversity Conservation Area. There are also about 20 speakers in Bo Trach district of Quang Binh province in central Vietnam.

Kri is also known as Arem, A-Rem, Chombrau, Chomrau or Umo. Native speakers call it meengq Kri (Kri language) and themselves mleeng Kri (Kri people).
