Chukchi Latin Alphabet (Lyghorawetlhen Latinlhen Alfavit)

The Chukchi Latin Alphabet is a way to write Chukchi with the Latin alphabet created by Dijacz. Chukchi is a Chukotko-Kamchatkan language spoken in mainly the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug in the Far East Region of Russia.

There was a official way to write Chukchi with the Latin alphabet which was devised 1931 and used until 1937, when it was replaced with the Cyrillic alphabet.

Dijacz believes that the current Cyrillic orthography includes some inconsistencies, and hopes to address these with a Latin script of greater uniformity. In addition to using a different set of letters, this Latin orthography is also notable in that it does not use any diacritics, due to the mutual exclusivity of certain phonemes. It also increases ease of writing, as the letters ⟨ӄ⟩, ⟨ԓ⟩ and ⟨ӈ⟩ may be difficult to find on a typical Cyrillic keyboard.

Notes

⟨b⟩, ⟨d⟩, ⟨f⟩, ⟨v⟩, ⟨x⟩, and ⟨z⟩ are only used in loanwords.
In Chukchi Cyrillic, three separate letters are used to represent the glottal stop: ⟨’⟩ (word-initially, written after a vowel; between vowels), ⟨ъ⟩ (after most consonants), and ⟨ь⟩ (after ⟨ԓ⟩ and ⟨ч⟩). This orthography unequivocally uses ⟨h⟩ for [ʔ], as [h] is not used in Chukchi.
[t͡s] in Russian loanwords should be spelt "ts".
[ɫ] in Russian loanwords may optionally be spelt "ł", although this is not recommended.
⟨я⟩, ⟨ю⟩, ⟨ё⟩, ⟨е⟩ are usually spelt "ja", "ju", "jo", and "je" respectively, although after ⟨ԓ⟩ they should be spelt without "j", so "ԓя", "ԓё" > "la", "lo", etc.
If "j" appears after a consonant in certain Russian loanwords, they may be optionally dropped for aesthetics, e.g. "Иудея" as "Iudeja" rather than "Iudjeja".
⟨r⟩ [ɻ] is realized as [r] between vowels.
[ŋɣ] should be spelt "ngg", and "нг" [nɣ] (if exists) should be spelt "n'g".
Russian ⟨ш⟩ may be spelt ⟨š⟩, and ⟨щ⟩ as "šc" or even "sc". ⟨ж⟩ may be spelt as ⟨ž⟩.
⟨s⟩ may be realized as [s ~ t͡ʃ] in the men's dialect, while /t͡ʃq/ is typically realized as [sq] in the women's dialect.
Word-finally, ⟨k⟩ becomes [kx].
/ɬ/ is voiced to [ɮ] between vowels.
⟨t⟩ and ⟨p⟩ are unreleased word-finally.

Further information

The word "latinlhen" ("латинԓьэн", "Latin") is a coinage from the creator based on "а’мерикаԓьэн" ("American"), as the Chukchi word for "Latin" is not well-documented online. The correct word may be "latinlhyn" ("латинԓьын") or another formation entirely.
