Alagwa (Alaagwa’isa)

Alagwa is a member of the South Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic language family. It is spoken by about 10,000 people mainly in the Kondoa District in the northwest of the Dodoma Region in central Tanzania. There are also some Alagwa speakers in the nearby Hanang District of the Manyara Region

Alagwa is also known as Alawa, Asi Alagwase, Alagwaisa, Chasi, Hhagiree, Kialagwa, Kichase, Uassi, Waasi or Wasi. Alagwa speakers call their language Alaagwa’isa.
