The Maldivian Arabic is a way to write Maldivian (Dhivehi) with the Arabic script devised by Mohamed Naaif, because the Maldives is a Muslim country, and because many languages spoken by Muslims are written with the Arabic script. The script is called اَلْوَطَّسِي لَهَجَة (Al wattasi lahajaiy / އަލް ވައްޠާސީ ލަހަޖާތ) and is named after a dialect of Maldivian spoken in the central Maldives.
