Slovak Arabic Script (سلؤٌڤَرَبِك)

The Slovak Arabic Script is a way to write Slovak with the Arabic script devised by Martin Varga. It was created to provide a phonetic and visually coherent writing system for Slovak, a language that includes specific vowels (á, ä, é, í, ó, ô, ú, ý) and consonants (č, š, ž, ď, ť, ľ, ň, dz, dž) that do not exist in standard Arabic.

The script combines existing Arabic letters with extensions from Persian, Uighur, Urdu, and Pashto to cover all Slovak sounds.

Slovak Arabic Script has been tested with Slovak readers and is readable without prior knowledge of the script, making it suitable for linguistic experiments, artistic use, and digital applications.

Alif (ا) is used as a vowel carrier when a vowel is not preceded by a consonant.
Long vowels are written with a short vowel diacritc and a long carrier (ئ / و / ا), e.g. ِئ = í.
The sukún (ْ ) is used exclusively for single consonants without a vowel, e.g. in clusters.
The script is fully vocalized — each consonant carries its own vowel.
The consonant w (و ) is used as a carrier for o, ó and ô.
The distinction between y (ي) and ý (ؠ) always applies, even in the middle of a word.
Affricates /t͡s/ and /d͡z/ are represented by the Pashto letters څ and ځ
Long and palatalized vowels have their own letters (á, í, ó, ú, ĺ, ŕ…)
Digraphs dz and dž have their own letters
Consonants ľ, ň, ĺ, ŕ are adapted from Uighur, Urdu, and Persian extended letters
Unicode-compatible – suitable for digital use
Mobile-friendly – readable even on smaller screens

ڤشٗتڅِ ڵُدِاَ سَ رؤٌدِاَ سلؤٌبؤٌدنِئ اَ رؤٌڤنِئ ڤؤٌ دٌاُستۋىنۋستِ اَ پرِئڤَخ. سُؤ ؤٌبدَرېنِئ رؤٌزُمؤٌم اَ سڤٗدؤٌمِئم اَ مَلِ بي سَ سپرِئڤَت ڤؤٌچِ سٗبٗ نَڦزِئىؤٌم ڤ دُخُ براَتستڤاَ.

Transliteration

Všetci ľudia sa rodia slobodní a rovní vo dôstojnosti a právach. Sú obdarení rozumom a svedomím a mali by sa správať voči sebe navzájom v duchu bratstva.
