Kendayan (Bahasa Dameà / Katà Diri')

Kendayan is a Malayic / Land Dayak language spoken by about 330,000 people in West Kalimantan Province in Indonesia and in the State of Sarawak in Malaysia. In particular, it is spoken in the Lundu and Sematan districts of the Kuching Division in the west of Sarawak, and in the Sambas and Bengkayang regencies and in parts of the Singkawang municipality in northwest of West Kalimantan.

Kendayan is known as Salako, Selako or Bahasa Salako in Malaysia, and as Kendayan, Kanayatn, Badameà, Bahasa Badameà, Bahasa Dameà or Katà Diri' in Indonesia. The varieties of the language spoken in Malaysia differ somewhat from those found in Indonesia. Salako is classified by some scholars as a Land Dayak language, while Kanayatn is classied as a Malayic language.

Kendayan is written with the Latin alphabet, and there is a translation of the New Testament of the Bible in the Salako dialect.
