Kenyah is a member of the North Bornean branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 50,000 people on the island of Borneo, particularly in the Bulungan and Malinau regencies in North Kalimantan province in Indonesia, and in the Usun Apau, Telang Usan and Belaga areas in the north of Sarawak in Malaysia.
Kenyah is also known as Mainstream Kenyah, Kenyah Proper, Highland Kenyah, Usun Apau, Usun Apau Kenyah or Bakung. There are numerous dialects, including Lepo' Tau, Lepo' Ke, Lepo' Maut and Bakung.
