Klon

Klon is member of the West Bomberai branch of the Trans-New Guinea language family. It is spoken by about 5,000 people on Alor Island, in the Alor Regency of East Nusa Tenggara Province in southern Indonesia. In particular, it is spoken in the villages of Probur, Probur Utara, Tribur, Halerman, Margera and Manatang.

Klon is also known as Kalong, Kelong or Kolon. There are two dialects: Klon Bring and Klong Paneia. It can be written with the Latin alphabet.

Ele ool om yeh ong, minuk mi ele lam mteh, gen o tun karnuk. Gen o tun karnuk ong, gen i koh okne ong kalkok, ini om maang orok. Ge gneq hok yeh nang gen ma bah ebeen.

Translation

Those two there were husband and wife. One they lived, it was like that for ten years. It was like that for ten years, until finished then the woman gave birth, they were both boys. They didn't have names until they grew into adults.
