Mbelime (bɛ̄dímɛ)

Mbelime is a member of the Northern Gur branch of the Niger-Congo language family. It is spoken by about 131,000 people in the northwest of Benin, particularly in the communes of Colby / Kobli and Boukombé in the southwest of Atakora department.

Mbelime is also known as Niende. It is officially recognised as a minority language in Benin. It was first written in 1978 with the Latin script. Since then, several different spelling systems have been devised.
