A Hen in My HatA Hen in My Hat

This is a song I wrote in early 2015 for no particular reason. At first I just wanted to incorporate the phrase 'My hovercraft is full of eels' into a song, then I decided to make it multilingual. So far it's in English, French, Mandarin Chinese, Welsh and Irish (Gaelic). I may add other languages at some point.

A Hen in My Hat

There's a hen in my hat
Said the cat on the mat
And an elephant in my bath
There are dogs doing deals
And seals on wheels
And my hovercraft is full of eels

My hovercraft is full of eels, of eels
My hovercraft is full of eels
My hovercraft is full, my hovercraft is full
My hovercraft is full of eels

Mae broch a brân
yn pendwpian ger y tân
ac yn breuddwydio am frechdanau caws
Ac mae phïod a malwod
yn malu awyr efo llewod
ac mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn llyswennod

Mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn llyswennod, llyswennod
Mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn llyswennod
Mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn, mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn
Mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn llyswennod

Tá capall sa chistin
agus cú sa gháirdín
ag ól cupáin tae
Agus tá muc agus easóg
ag rince le easpag
agus tá m'árthach foluaineach lán d'eascanna

Tá m'árthach foluaineach lán d'eascanna, d’eascanna
Tá m'árthach foluaineach lán d'eascanna
Tá m'árthach foluaineach lán, tá m'árthach foluaineach lán
Tá m'árthach foluaineach lán d'eascanna

Here are translations of the non-English verses

Verse 2 (French)

There's a cat in the field, singing a song, and a dog who regrets nothing, and there's a large frog, who's eating daffodils, and my hovercraft is full of eels.

Verse 3 (Welsh)

A badger and a crow are dozing by the fire and dreaming of cheese sandwiches, and magpies and snails are waffling with lions, and my hovercraft is full of eels.

Verse 4 (Mandarin Chinese)

There's a camel on the table and a tiger in the study eating choclate. Everywhere there are animals singing songs and dancing, and my hovercraft is full of eels.

Verse 5 (Irish)

There's a horse in the kitchen and a dog in the garden drinking cups of tea, and there's a pig and a weasel dancing with a bishop, and my hovercraft is full of eels.

Here's a recording:
