Isu is member of the Grassfields group of Southern Bantoid languages. It is spoken by about 15,000 people in the Fungom Subdivision of the Menchum Department in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. In particular, Isu is spoken in and around the village of Isu and the town of Wum.
Isu is written with the Latin alphabet using an orthography based on guidelines adopted in 1979 by the National Committee for the Unification and Harmonisation of the Alphabets of Cameroon Languages.
