Jarawa is a Southern Bantoid language spoken in northeastern Nigeria by about 250,000 people. It is particularly spoken near Bauchi City in the Bauchi Local Government Area in the south of Bauchi State.
Jarawa is also known as Jhar, Jar or Jaranci. Jarawa speakers call themselves Afizarek or Afizere. Dialects include Zhár, Zugur, Gwak, Ndaŋshi, Dòòrì, Mbat, Mùùn, Kantana and Dàmùl. Kantana and some of the other are classified as separate languages in some sources.
