Tontemboan

Tontemboan is a member of the North Minahasan branch of the Philippine language family. It is spoken by about 150,000 people in North Sulawesi province in the north of Sulawesi, particularly in the districts of Tareran, Songer, Kawangkoan, Langoan, Tenga, Tumpaan, Amurang, Motoling and Modoinding in the Minahasan Regency. There are also Tontemboan speakers in the Gorontalo, South Minahasa, Bolaang Mongondow regencies.

Tontemboan is also known as Tountemboan, Tompakewa, Tumompaso, Minahasan or Minahasan Tountemboan. It is written with the Latin alphabet, and there appear to be several spelling systems.
