Baduy is a member of the Sundanese-Baduy branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It has about 11,600 speakers in Banten Province in the west of the island of Java in Indonesia. In particular, it is spoken in the Rangkasbitung district in the north of the Lebak Regency in the south of Banten Province, and also in the neighbouring Pandeglang Regency in the southwest of Banten Province.
Baduy is also known as Badui, Kanekes, Basa Baduy or Basa Sunda Kanékés'. It is conventionally classified as a dialect of Sundanese, however some consider it a separate language as it differs significantly from Sundanese, and retains elements of Old Sundanese that have disappeared from modern Sundanese.
Some speakers of Baduy - the inner Baduy - are quite isolated from the rest of the world. They tend reject modern technology and try to retain their traditional language and culture. The outer Baduy are more open to outsiders, and they are shifting to speaking Indonesian and Sundanese.

Nothing inhabits it except wild animals such as tigers, rhinos, wild boars, and many more snakes of various sizes that occupy the entire forest.
