Wooi is a member of the South Halmahera-West New Guinea branch of the Eastern Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 1,800 people mainly on Yapen / Japen Island in the Yapen Islands Regency in Papua Province in eastern Indonesia. In particular it is spoken in the villages of Wooi and Woinap at the western end of Yapen Island, and in the village of Yenuari on Moisnum Island. There are also some speakers of Wooi in other parts of Indonesia.
Wooi is also known as Woi or Wo'oi. It can be written with the Latin alphabet.
