Suba is a Northeast Bantu language spoken by about 140,000 people on the eastern shore of Lake Victoria and on nearby islands of Mfangano and Rusinga in Homa Bay County in the southwest of Kenya.
Suba is also known as Suba-Sagala. Speakers of Suba call their language Olusuba and themselves Abasuba. Suba is closely related to the Ganda (Luganda) language. Suba is written with the Latin alphabet.
Many Suba people also speak Luo, and increasing numbers of Suba people are speaking Luo, Swahili or English rather than Suba. In the 1990s, the Kenyan government introduced Suba as a subject in Kenya primary schools as part of their Suba language project to revitalise the language. A Suba translation of the New Testament was published in 2010.

When the Baboons and Monkeys heard that the Man who used to chase them away from the maize field had died, they hysterically celebrated. The following year, there was no maize, that is when they painfully realized the dead man was the farmer.
